At Gibson Abrasive Equipment, we’re constantly refining our machine designs for easier-to-maintain wheel blast equipment. We’re excited to introduce a new feature for the TB48XT – re-engineered mountings for table shaft bearings that are easily accessible from the outside of the blast chamber vs. the inside. This design change is one that recent customers have been very happy with, thus our plans to expand to other table blasters in the future.

Why Improve Access? Simple: Easier Maintenance & Longer Life
Typically, the critical table shaft bearings that support and spin the blast table are housed inside the abrasive blast cabinet, exposed to the harsh environment of blast media. Our new design takes these crucial components out of the fray.

“One of the things you’ll notice right off the bat is the accessibility of the primary rotary components,” notes Brett Michael. This simple shift offers powerful advantages:
- Effortless Visual Inspection: Visual inspections are important, so the easier, the better! While not an everyday task, easy visibility means issues can be caught early, preventing bigger problems down the line.
- Protection from Elements: Adjusting the bearing enclosure reduces exposure to the elements, meaning we remove it from being inside with the abrasive blast media. This significantly reduces wear and tear from abrasive exposure.
- Simplified Lubrication: Ease of lubrication is another direct benefit of the new design.
- Easier Installation & Replacement: Should replacement ever be necessary, the new design actually makes it easier to install and replace if needed, so it’s just all around easier for maintenance.
You can visually see both the lower and upper bearings underneath the table, both benefiting from this new design.

An Engineering Update for New Machines
This bearing update is more than just a minor tweak; there are plans to engineer it into future machines.
We know there is demand and it’s a nice new feature that other machines don’t have. This commitment to continuous improvement means better long-term performance and lower maintenance headaches for you.
